News from the City North Annual General Meeting

8 Mar 2016 by Nat Wong

This past Saturday, City Norths held its Annual General Meeting. At that meeting, Cameron van Balen stepped down as Centre Manager and was succeeded by Nat Wong. Nat and his wife Tanya have 3 kids enrolled at City Norths in Under 12 Boys, Under 9 Girls and Under 7 Boys, while their youngest is still 3 years away from Under 6s. Nat and Tanya jointly received the Volunteer of the Year award at last year’s Club Trophy day, and have been involved with City Norths for the past 5 seasons.

David Nyssen is continuing in the role of Assistant Centre Manager and the Committee will again be supported by the efforts of Linda Moss as Treasurer. Tanya Wong will be working with Linda Cartwright to assist with Registrations, Nominations and Recording.

Congratulations and Thank you to the new members of the CNLA committee – Melanie Fletcher, Tina Roberts, Gerard Piper, Fred and Natasha Iselin-Leone – that have volunteered to take up new responsibilities in our club. Melanie and Tina will be taking on the responsibilities of our Uniform shop, and Tina has also kindly agreed to work on a number of our Communications channels.

A special thank you to Cam for carrying the Centre Manager’s role for the past couple of years, a role he picked up under difficult circumstances. Cam is continuing on the Committee but will be focusing more closely on a parent liaison role.

David Nyssen is that person that just makes clubs work. His tireless efforts in driving the engine room of our Club for yet another successful season are greatly appreciated. Thanks also to Linda Moss for keeping the club’s finances well managed and in surplus, Michael Kennedy for his long standing leadership in managing our facilities and driving the competition setup and pack up every weekend, and Linda Cartwright for the many long hours that she dedicates every week to recording results and producing the forms and performance sheets that we use every week.

Sadly, we have several members retiring from the Committee – Catherine Malone, Danielle Northfield and Michael Rogers.

Catherine has been a powerhouse of organisation, and has been instrumental in organising our officials program and engagement with the Little Athletics in our Region. Danielle has kept our uniform store a well tuned machine. Michael has been the club secretary, and has continued to help throughout the season on setting up and packing away equipment even when his children weren’t competing. A big thank you to all for your long standing contribution.

To all the members of the City Norths Little Athletics Management Committee that I haven’t mentioned here, thank you. Your hard work is appreciated and makes our Club what it is.

To our City North Families, this Olympic year promises to be an exciting one full of opportunities for our club. While you may have missed the AGM, if you would like to participate more fully in the club’s operations, please contact us and join the Committee.

Sincerely,

Nat.
